The ANWAR IBRAHIM dilemna

1 Jul The STAR : The people can now gauge for themselves Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's true struggle, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
He said Anwar's trip to Washington recently to mend ties with several Jewish figures showed that the PKR advisor had close relations with the group.
"It has been clearly proven. So we have to weigh Anwar's actual struggle,"
Muhyiddin said Anwar had gone to Washington to apologise for his mistakes out of concern that it might hurt the feelings of his American friends.
"We know for a fact his ties with pro-Zionist groups. It is up to the people to weigh who, actually, is Anwar Ibrahim," he said.
Muhyiddin was asked to comment on a Washington Post report Monday that Anwar was in Washington last week to tell his friends that he regretted using the term such as "Zionist aggression".

The source of all this attacks on Anwar  was based on the article " Flirting With Zealotry In Malaysia" written by Jackson Diehl, Deputy Editor of the Washington Post.
Anwar has now inadvertently cast himself a death sentence on his political ambition. Before his trip to Washington , consider his stand on Israel :
- He led a demonstration before Barisan Nasional did outside the U.S. embassy in Kuala Lumpur where an Israeli flag was burned condemning the Israeli blockade and attack on the Gaza aid ship Mavi Mavara.
- His strident rhetoric about Israel and alleged "Zionist influence" in Malaysia. He's made dark insinuations about the "Jewish-controlled" Washington public relations firm Apco Worldwide, which is working for the government. Anwar declared that he was being subjected to retribution for his previous statements before the Malaysian Parliament, in which he claimed that Jews were working to manipulate Malaysian policy for America’s benefit.
So the picture he'd painted to us folks is that he was too anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish etc, something which dear Dr Mahathir always love to exhort. However he is already having difficulties in the spinning of APCO issue as it backfired when his friends in the west started questioning whether he is also an anti-semitic.  To defend himself as not an anti-semitic, Anwar has made statement confirming being a committee member of ICG, an organization headed by mostly Jews.
And now we hear about his trip to Washington barely less than 2 months after leading the Anti-Israel demonstration. I'd guess he'd hurt his Jewish friends over his anti-Jewish tirades and he now need to explain and say "sorry".  So on his latest  "kow-tow" trip to the USA, he has expressed regrets to the Jews for his anti Jewish remarks made in Malaysia. Some said he is now too like Najib "butt-kissing" the Jews !
But Anwar never expected that the Washington Post reported the full  details of his visit. Washington Post reported that Anwar spent a lot of time offering explanations to old friends including House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Howard Berman and a couple of Jewish leaders.  Anwar also stressed that he regretted using the terms such as “Zionist aggression”.  He was then reported saying, “Why do I need to use it if it causes so much misunderstanding?" and "I need to be more careful."
It is not at all surprising when Paul Wolfowitz  ( former World Bank president and U.S. ambassador to Indonesia ) came to Anwar’s defence and asked that his buddy be given a break considering that Anwar is fighting for his life, physically and politically, against a government that attacks him as being a puppet of the Jews.
Basing on Wolfowitz words, one cannot but accept that that Anwar is indeed a puppet of the Jew.  Anwar seems very much in need of the Jews support rather than the support from the Muslim’s countries.  Anwar had never offered an explaination nor an apology for signing the Annapolis Summit that only benefited the Israelis and not the Palestinians.
It was never necessary for Anwar to explain to the Muslims on his close relationship with Wolfowitz, Camdessus, Gore and all the leaders in the west who have somehow or another involve in the killing of the Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestines.
Anwar, on the other hand, would go all the way and willing to tarnish his Islamic image just to impress the west.
But just like Jackson Diehl warned, Anwar’s story can also be read as a warning.  His transition from pro-American democrat to anti-Israeli zealot is sobering… For Malaysians, Anwar may be and can be anything, from puppet to grandmaster of the greatest disaster of Malaysia.
No wonder Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has now labeled Anwar Ibrahim a "chameleon extraordinaire".
It's all politics. To politicians,  nothing is black or white - it's always grey and the grey shades are dynamic always shifting to the appropriate shade that suits best the politician's survival. I'd say all Malaysian politicians have to be chameleons if they want to be successful politicians in Malaysia.
It’s time for Pakatan Rakyat to rethink about Anwar and their consideration of him as their choice of PM.  The recent defections of PKR elected MPs to be friendly BN's independents is already a serious dent in PKR's image. With this Anwar's " chameleon" issue now openly displayed it'll create uncertainty and doubts in party members about their support for Anwar and PKR.
